The Arctic Wolf is taller than other wolves, characterized by its smaller ears and short muzzle. It is covered with white, long fur not only during cold seasons. Due to its elusive nature and rarity, it is sometimes referred to as the 'phantom white wolf'.

In Japan, the existence of wild Arctic Wolves has not been confirmed. They live on islands around Greenland, close to the Arctic Circle. Their white, long fur, which blends in with the snow, is crucial for surviving in the extreme cold of over minus 50 degrees Celsius. This camouflage helps them hunt by blending in with the snow.

Other types of wolves include the Gray Wolf, Mexican Wolf, Indian Wolf, Alaskan Wolf, and Forest Wolf. Japan once had the Hokkaido Wolf and the Japanese Wolf, but they became extinct due to various reasons in the early Showa period.
