The Andean marsupial tree frog ( *Gastrotheca riobambae* ), also known as the Riobamba marsupial frog or Riobamba pouched frog, is a frog species belonging to the genus Gastrotheca in the family Hemiphractidae, found in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador.

They are about 6-8 cm long, with a green or brown back and a white or cream belly.

Their skin is relatively smooth and glossy.

Andean Marsupial Tree Frogs inhabit the cloud forests and paramo (highland grasslands) of the Ecuadorian Andes, at elevations between 2,000 and 3,500 meters.

They are arboreal, meaning they live in trees, often found in tree hollows or among branches.

They are nocturnal and become active at night to forage for insects, spiders, and earthworms.

Like other Hemiphractidae frogs, female Andean Marsupial Tree Frogs carry their eggs in a pouch on their backs.

This pouch is called a "brood pouch," and the eggs hatch and tadpoles develop within it.

Once the tadpoles metamorphose into small froglets, they emerge from the mother's pouch.
